Eating is something that you are going to have to do 3 times a day for the rest of your life. You might as well learn how to feed yourself. Check out the following benefits.

Improve your diet

When you prepare your own food, you have greater control over the quality and ingredients that you are putting into your body. A better diet means that you will feel better, look better and perform better in school and in sports. Nutritious food also helps build good muscle tone and contributes to clear skin.

Save money

When you buy groceries and prepare your own food you end up spending way less on food because you’re not eating out as much.

Entertain and impress others

Eating is a very social thing. If you know how to cook, you can invite some friends, make some food and have a good time while impressing them with your cooking abilities.

Tips on how to feed yourself

Start by creating a menu for the week. Monday through Sunday, breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks. Then create a list of ingredients you’ll need to buy at the grocery store (cereal, bread, chicken breasts, fruits, vegetables, fish, etc.)

To learn how to cook, you can ask the person that currently cooks for you now to show you how, you can search for recipes and instructions online or you can find cooking books at the public library.

Knowing how to cook also gives you a great sense of freedom because you don’t have to depend on someone else cooking for you or having to eat out all the time.

One last thing

When you first start cooking, give yourself a break, it’s doesn’t have to taste amazing. Make sure you use fresh ingredients and do the best you can, the quantities and ingredients don’t have to be exact, just keep at it trial and error style and eventually you’ll become a great cook!
